About Ambedkar Foundation — a charitable trust in Jharkhand
Ambedkar Foundation is a registered charitable trust and NGO in Jharkhand, established in 2009 by a group of socially committed individuals who shared one conviction: that the rural and tribal poor of Jharkhand deserve not charity from a distance, but a genuine partnership in their own development. What began as a small effort to bring people together into self-help groups has grown into a multi-programme organisation working across three districts, Hazaribagh, Chatra, and Giridih, on education, livelihoods, health, and social and legal empowerment.
Over the years, our understanding of poverty has only deepened. We have learned that disadvantage is rarely about a single missing thing. A family may lack income and a school within reach and clean drinking water and any awareness of the government schemes it is entitled to. Tackling one of these while ignoring the others rarely produces lasting change. That is why Ambedkar Foundation works across several connected themes at once, always starting from the community's own priorities.

Mission

To organise, educate and empower the rural poor and deprived communities through community mobilisation, training, advocacy, and entitlement for socio-economic growth, cultural promotion, ecological balance, and self-reliance.
